Personal Training & Group Fitness
Gina Moodie - Personal Training client
I was both amazed and delighted after having begun training with
Alan some time ago - just how much better I feel from both a physical
and mental perspective. Rather than collapsing at the end of the
day - I find I still have energy to burn.
I'm sleeping better at night and I no longer drag myself out of
bed in the morning - instead I'm up and out and feeling good about
the day ahead!
I was a little concerned about a "personal trainer" being
more like a military drill seargant (something about getting down
and doing 50 more push ups)!
Training sessions with Alan are good fitness and good fun! I can't
recommend him highly enough.
Seb Nemeth - Personal Training client and Kung Fu student
I first met Alan whilst training Kung Fu many years ago and quickly
came to respect his quiet dedication. His precision application
of technique is a rare example of someone who has mastered the subtleties
that many practitioners overlook and compensate for with brute strength.
Training with Alan, you never feel that your time is wasted.
When I began to do personal training with him in a small group,
his depth of knowledge regarding health and physical fitness struck
me and I quickly began to trust his instruction implicitly. When
I decided to join the military, it was Alan's deliberate efforts
that made possible my smooth transition to the new, demanding physical
environment.
I still practice Kung Fu with him when I am able and regularly
seek his keen advice with my own personal training and development.
Angela Conte - Group Fitness client
Four to five work colleagues and I have been taking part in two
1 hour personal training sessions per week during our lunch hour
at work. Alan Baxter has been training us for over a year and we
are finding the experience extremely beneficial.
Not only does it get us out of the office (which is a feat of its
own sometimes), it is keeping us active and fit. We certainly are
seeing the improvements as Alan challenges us as a group and as
individuals with varying circuits. We have all come a long way since
we started, getting through circuits now that we never dreamt of
completing just a few months ago.
Individually we each have varying goals, to improve fitness, to
lose weight, to bulk up, to improve strength and increase energy
and vitality, but all in all, as a group we give each other the
motivation we need to get through the sessions. Alan as a trainer
makes the sessions enjoyable. We are able to share a laugh with
him, share our work stresses with him and he inspires us with his
motivational statements and his own dedication to his field.
Sarah Wells - Personal Training client
My name is Sarah and I am a self confessed procrastinator or,
should I say, recovering procrastinator. Five years ago I decided
I wanted to do something about the way I looked and felt. Four and
a half years later, dollars down the drain on any and all so called
miracle weight loss programs, useless Personal Trainers, Gym Memberships
and a hell of a lot of excuses, nothing had changed. All I needed
was the right attitude, the right Personal Trainer and some discipline.
Now I am not saying that Alan is a miracle worker. What I can assure
you of is that, if you are in the right place in your life to do
something about your situation and you are committed to changing
your habits and attitudes, then do yourself a favour - call Alan
and give three sessions a try. I assure you that you will feel better
about yourself and, most importantly, start to set goals.
Now I am on my way from FLAB to FAB, and will never go back to
FLAB as my whole lifestyle has changed for the better, I am now
a fitter person. It has been four months since I started training
with Alan. I now even go to the gym on my off days from training
with Alan, not because I have to but because it is part of the new
me. My friends and colleagues comment on how much happier and productive
I am. Not only am I starting to look good but I feel great too.
James Frost - Personal Training client and Kung Fu student
I trained with Alan for several years, and he was always highly
dedicated to pushing himself and others to their limits and beyond.
On days where it was hard to find the motivation to even begin
training, Alan always had the 'lets do it' attitude that got people
going without being pushy.
Stephen Spencer - Personal Training client
The man is a wanker. He takes pleasure in other peoples
pain in a way that I find slightly weird, almost reminiscent of
a dodgy private school teacher who has a lot to hide. Ive
been training with him for 18 months and havent enjoyed one
minute, I am just too lazy to change. Plus he wont let me
attempt to kick him in the balls.
Martial Arts
Ian Sibley - Martial Arts Instructor (www.ancestralmountains.com)
Alan first attended my classes in the early 1990's. He already
had many years of training with some well-known and respected instructors
and had a very good attitude. Alan practiced hard and had the intelligence
to perceive and build upon the principles underlying the practice.
These things combined to make him someone I was not only proud to
have as a student but someone whom I was sure would become a good
instructor.
Alan often won gold medals and similar trophies at tournaments we
attended. He is dedicated in his own training but has a congenial
personality that puts others at ease. He has the ability to lead
by example in a way that is both encouraging to beginner students
and inspiring to the more advanced.
Robin Durrant - Kung Fu Student
For a professional approach, Alan is a class above. He is highly
motivated and well focused as a martial artist and likewise as a
trainer. With a friendly personality it's easy to feel relaxed whilst
he is training you.
Serge Loutov - Kung Fu student
I've been doing kung-fu with Alan Baxter for the last few months
and enjoy it very much. The atmosphere in the class is very friendly,
you can talk with anyone about little things, which is actually
very important in your daily life.
Also in Alan's group it is not just general fitness, but lots of
spiritual elements, we talk about history of kung-fu, correct breathing
and techniques to calm down if you are stressed out. Also I like
full contact in blocks and kicks (it's optional for students), it
is a great stress management. So for me it is more like a life style
than just exercises.
Dan Moth - Kung Fu student
Good or bad, nothing escapes Alan's attention. He's as rigorous
with his students as he is with himself.
As with all great teachers, all his knowledge is yours, shared
freely.
Abby Siegel - Kickboxing Student
Working with Alan is rewarding. He challenges you to work your
hardest to produce the results you want and to improve your boxing
skills.
Not only is he personable and easy to get along with, but he is
also a focused instructor with your best interests at heart. I have
thoroughly enjoyed working with him and absolutely endorse his talents.
